What you can expect of us:

A community bulletin board.
RezList is intended for use as a way of sharing with other Church of the Resurrection members or regular attenders the wealth we have. Since we’re all about the body of Christ in its particular form as Church of the Resurrection, we do our best to make sure all posts to this site are legitimate posts from Rez members & regular attenders.

Moderated posts within 24 hours.
Since we’re doing our best to keep RezList a community list, all posts will be moderated. Because this site is moderated, it does mean that posts will not show up immediately. We pledge to have them posted within 24 hours of submission. If you have any questions about someone who has contacted you on RezList, contact our moderator, Sarah Scherf.

Limited anonymity.
To help limit spam and protect your identity, all posts will generate a random e-mail address that will then be re-routed to you. You may opt to post without personal information such as your name and address. However, in order to post you will have to provide those things to the moderator (so we can make sure you’re in the church) and be willing to provide them to the person you’re giving away those baby clothes to.

We suggest posting with your first name and town so those considering say, your desk set, know whether they are willing to travel to Westmont for them.

A post life of 180 days.
Your post will remain active for 180 days. If you are providing a service, you are welcome to resubmit your post after that.

What we can’t provide:

Guarantee of quality of goods or services.

Although it pains us, we can’t make sure each spare chair has four legs, every lawnmower has a cutting blade, or that every babysitter will play educational games with your children. We are not responsible for any of the content, goods or services provided by this site. All RezList users are expected to be honest in their dealings and decision making.

Emergency assistance.
Here’s what we mean: If you must have a baby sitter by 10:00 am and it’s 8:00 am, please do use our board to search for likely candidates, but because all messages are moderated, it could be 24 hours before an e-mail message goes through to the sitter. In that case, it would be best to work through your network of friends or small group to find the help you require.

If you have a need that requires immediate pastoral assistance, please contact our Pastoral Care extension at 630-653-3888 x250. If you have an urgent financial need, you may wish to contact Matthew Pechanio to apply for assistance from our Good Sam fund. You can contact Matthew by clicking here, or by calling 630-653-3888 x209, or by leaving a message on the Pastoral Care extension at x250. If you'd like prayer, you can e-mail our Prayer Chain directly at prayerchain@churchrez.org.

What we need from you:

You have to be a member or regular attender of Church of the Resurrection.
Since this bulletin board service is provided for Church of the Resurrection’s community, by posting on our bulletin board you are saying that you’re a part of our community. If we aren’t sure you are, we’ll be in contact.

You may not impersonate someone involved at Church of the Resurrection in order to post to this site. Stranger things have happened.

Postings for other institutions are limited to ones in which Resurrection members and regular attenders are actively involved (i.e. a member’s painting business), as well as ministries with which Church of the Resurrection has a relationship. No other commercial interests may post.

Your best behavior.
It goes without saying that cursing, sexual language or innuendo, derogatory language, harassing or intimidating others isn’t permitted. You may not post or exchange pornography on this site or post items relating to unlawful activities. Just in case you’re wondering, we won’t post any weapons you might be trying to get rid of.

Be respectful of those with whom you are interacting via RezList. Be honest about your expectations and abilities. If you say you’re going to show up at 9:00 am, be on time.

In your interactions with others on the site, be virtuous, kind and patient. Remember that e-mail does not always convey the intentions you would normally express in person, so season your correspondence with grace and love. J

Honest representation of goods and services.
Please don’t Photoshop that picture of the credenza you want to get rid of. Really. If something’s broken, please indicate that.

If you are giving away permanently or selling something, the goods you offer must be legally yours and considered legally transferred when you complete a transaction on this site—in other words, you may not unload your copy of Microsoft Office Suite without uninstalling it on your computer.

If you are allowing someone to borrow something, be clear that is a temporary loan, and state your expectations about when the item will be returned. Make sure the party to whom you are loaning understands these terms and agrees.

Don’t abuse the list.
It is perfectly OK to contact someone needing a desk about the table in your basement, since those are similar items. To contact them about that desk chair is stretching things—but trying to unload your racing car bed on them is taking it a little far. Confine your correspondence to the specific request that was posted.

Handle conflict in a biblical fashion.
Just because we are all members of the body of Christ does not mean that we always agree with each other. Disagreements that occur are expected to be carried out in a respectful and thoughtful manner in the spirit of Matthew 23 and according to the Church of the Resurrection Guidelines for Biblical Conflict. If you end up in an escalating conflict, you may appeal for assistance to the moderator, the office manager or another member of the Church of the Resurrection staff.

Tell us when your request has been fulfilled.
When your request is fulfilled, we can mark it as such so people don’t continue to contact you about it.
